Matthew Shepard's Mom Speaks Out in Powerful Anti-Trump, Anti-Hate PSA

We're in the final stretches of what has felt like an interminable election, one marked by divisive, hate-filled rhetoric and just some of the ugliest moments in recent media history.

With a hat tip to so-called "liberal intolerance," Donald Trump and his motley crew of campaign "experts" are largely responsible for this odious climate, and whether you're a Democrat or a Republican, chances are you're tired of all the goddamn negativity.

No stranger to hate, Judy Shepard--the mother of Matthew Shepard, the victim of a brutal 1998 murder who helped inspired the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act--decries the Trumping of America in a new PSA released today by Priorities USA.

"Words have an influence, violence causes pain, hate can rip us apart. I know what can happen as a result of hate," Shepard implores. "And Donald Trump should never be our President."
