Lil Nas X Kisses Male Dancers During BET Awards, Claps Back at Haters

The Grammy winner responded to haters of his latest "MONTERO (Call Me by Your Name)" performance in the best way.

Lil Nas X had quite the night at the 2021 BET Awards!

An Egyptian-themed nod to Michael Jackson's 1992 track "Remember the Time," the Grammy-winning rapper performed his hit single "MONTERO (Call Me by Your Name)" for the BET Awards crowd in Los Angeles on Sunday night, and just like the music video, the performance was queer AF.

After walking the red carpet earlier that night in an Andrea Grossi gown, Nas X donned an all-gold ensemble and rocked out on stage with a large group of shirtless men to perform his headline-making single from his upcoming debut studio album. He then concluded his performance by making out with one of his dancers, and it was a moment that had so many people buzzing online.

Unfortunately, because we still live in a hate-filled world, a lot of the comments that were thrown his way were filled with femmephobia and homophobia, but in true Nas X fashion, he replied to any unfair online criticisms with clever, truthful clap backs of his own.

"We causing the emasculation of men all 2021," he quote tweeted someone who called his couture gown "nonsense" and claimed he is single-handedly trying to emasculate a whole generation of young boys.

"Y'all really like to pretend homosexuality didn't exist in African culture," he said to another Twitter user who says he's "using" African culture disrespectfully.

While it's unfortunate that Nas X still gets so much homophobia thrown his way, it's artists like him that continue to push boundaries and make the world a better place for young LGBTQ+ people who might not have a queer role model to look up to or an example of what it means to be out and proud, and for that, we will always stan!
