The #FreeKesha movement might have worked.
After Kesha lost her legal battle with Dr. Luke a handful of weeks back, the Internet went up in flames of support for the artist; fellow singers like Lady Gaga and Adele tweeted their support, and Taylor Swift even donated a 250K check to the cause. Now Sony is finally validating Kesha's claims that Luke drugged and raped her shortly after her 18th birthday.
Sources told The Wrapthat Sony will terminate its relationship with Dr. Luke a year before it expires. "The fact that this hasn't already been taken care of is confusing," said one source.
No one's sure how Sony will cut the cord with Luke, but a negotiated departure is most likely. "There may not be any legal basis to terminate an agreement. It would have to be mutual," said a second source.
We're hoping Sony finds a way.
