In the titular track from their upcoming album Future Politics, Austra provides a sense of hope within a call for action. With the message that the apocalypse is avoidable, the album features addictive anthems that envision a utopian future. An electronic beat is complemented by kinetic melodies with a vulnerable bliss in Katie Stelmanis's vocals.
"Future Politics is the breaking down of paradigms. In this video, we wanted to explore what a world might look like if our values were transformed: instead of glorifying labor, maybe we could learn to glorify the act of doing absolutely nothing," Stelmanis said of the video.
The video features Stelmanis overlooking the bleak future of society. As a diverse group of suited men and women go about their daily routines, they find their paths disrupted by an odd sense of energy. They all end up in a colorful landscape, sharing a common state of euphoria.
