The documentary on L.A.'s reigning nightlife monarch comes to New York in a premiere event hosted by Justin Vivian Bond
Club King by director Jon Bush tracks Mario Diaz, formerly of The Cock in Manhattan's East Village (photo at bottom of page), as he brings his patented brand of fun and sleaze to Los Angeles, where he's since hosted some of the longest-running club nights in the city, including Full Frontal Disco, Big Fat Dick, and Brutus.
The documentary features interviews with Mario Diaz, Jackie Beat, Justin Vivian Bond, Nadya Ginsburg, Selene Luna, Scooter LaForge, Philip Littell, Mark Jacobs, Michael Schmidt, Matthew Breen (full disclosure: of The Advocate and Out), Fade-Dra Phey, Sarah Dale, Greg McKeon, and many more.
Bush (below right) and Diaz will both be at the 10 p.m. screening on Saturday, May 30, at the Celebration of Whimsy Theater followed by a dance party hosted by DJ Dandylion. Click here for tickets ($15 in advance, $20 at the door), and click here for more info on the film.
