Given TV's recent wave of sexy undercover-agent dramas (see Homeland, The Americans), the timing of new espionage thriller The East couldn't be better. The film, from queer writer-director Zal Batmanglij, follows Sarah (played by Brit Marling, who also co-wrote the script), a gifted operative for a private intelligence firm, as she infiltrates an anarchist group targeting major corporate polluters.
The twist: These shaggy, off-the-grid eco-terrorists actually start to grow on her. Alexander Skarsgard is Benji, their prophet-like leader (and yes, he gets naked).
