Now that summer is winding down, we want to make sure everyone is ready for all that autumn has to offer. Here's our short list of the movies we think you shouldn't miss.
> We Were Here. Tackling the initial outbreak and spread of AIDS in 1980s San Francisco, this deeply personal documentary looks through the eyes of five people--including AIDS patients, caregivers, and researchers--who lived through the ruin of their community. (Out now)
> Toast. Helena Bonham Carter serves up heaps of her eccentric British charm playing gay food critic Nigel Slater's stepmother in this adaptation of his coming-of-age memoir. (Opens October 7)
> The Skin I Live In. In Pedro Almodovar's highly stylized sexual nightmare, Antonio Banderas plays a mad plastic surgeon seeking catharsis for his burned wife's demise. (Opens October 7)
> The Ides of March. Big names (Gosling, Seymour Hoffman, Tomei, Giamatti) and our favorite vampy bisexual (Evan Rachel Wood) appear in George Clooney's new political thriller about a presidential candidate in crisis on the eve of a pivotal primary election. (Opens October 7)
> Anonymous. Gay mega-blockbuster director Roland Emmerich imagines the popular quandary of Shakespeare's true identity as a big-budget thriller. (Opens October 28)
Previously > In Memoriam: Mark Bingham (1970 - September 11, 2001)
