Style influencer Nik Thakkar came up with a short film celebrating Tom Ford's Private Blend Oud Collection-- one of Thakkar's personal favorites.
Filmed in the Loft Terrace of The Sanderson hotel, in London, the video showcases a nude Nik in his bathtub, in a scenario inspired by the sulfurous Bernardo Bertolucci drama The Dreamers and the documentary Confrontation: Paris, shot by Seymour Drescher during the 1968 riots. The project was creatively produced by Nik Thakkar and directed by Adri Murguia.
The Private Blend Oud collection is an olfactive journey that explores three different facets of oud, a sharp and sensual type of wood found in South East Asia. Its distinctive smell, considered an aphrodisiac in Middle Eastern culture, is the result of a bacterial infection on the tree, which moulds and secretes a fragrant, protective oil into its wounded areas.
Two new fragrances based on this ingredient join the best-selling Oud Wood fragrance: Private Blend Oud Fleur and Private Blend Tobacco Oud.
Both share the signature elements of the original Oud Wood --oud, sandalwood and patchouli-- but follow two contrasting directions.
Oud Fleur introduces a dominant note of rose to create a sensual, androgynous scent, while Tobacco Oud is built on sweet tobacco and whiskey, for a boldly masculine fragrance.
And for a more consistent olfactive experience, the collection is complete with three bath and body products scented with the signature Oud Wood: a body moisturizer, a shower gel, and a soap, which we can already picture sitting elegantly on our bathroom shelves.
