For many years, certain fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race have referred to season seven as one of the “worst” seasons of the flagship series… which couldn’t be further away from the truth.
First and foremost, season seven introduced fans to queens who became absolute staples in the Drag Race franchise. I mean, this cast alone includes contestants like Trixie Mattel, Katya, Kennedy Davenport, Ginger Minj, Violet Chachki, Miss Fame, and Jasmine Masters – queens who have been running successful makeup companies, starring in their own TV shows, walking the most prestigious fashion events in the world, headlining international tours, becoming viral sensations on social media, and topping the charts of most-followed Drag Race queens ever.
Though it was unfairly compared to seasons four, five, and six at the time, season seven also played an incredibly important role in upping the ante when it came to the fashion game of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Every subsequent season had much more expensive shoes to fill due to the very high runway and makeup level that was presented on season seven – which became, in many ways, a new standard for the franchise.
There were also the iconic moments that made season seven of Drag Race a wild and incredibly fun ride. In hindsight, this couldn’t be further away from being a “boring” season, and it’s totally unfair to rank it among the “worst” cycles of Drag Race. Here are a few examples to prove it!
