Work hard, play hard!
It's hard to believe the 2026 Winter Olympics are already in the rearview mirror. Team USA made history by winning a total of 33 medals, consisting of 12 gold, which broke the record for the most gold medals won at a Winter Games.
Although many fans were celebrating the big wins in Milan, out Olympian Adam Rippon covered the games a host on the NBC podcast My New Favorite Olympian, bringing his expertise and insights as a retired figure skater. The star's comments made headlines during the competition as he spilled all the tea on the condom shortage at the Olympic Village.
"There were no condoms left! When I went to the Olympics, I was obviously searching for them. When I did finally find them in a medical tent, I took about 1,000. I was a huge part of the missing condoms in 2018. I can't say anything for 2026," Rippon tells Out.
Rippon clarified that he snatched an excessive amount of condoms during his time competing in South Korea as a way to give back to all of his supporters back home in the United States.
"What's a cheap gift that I can get my friends? The condoms from the Olympics would be an amazing gift! You can't give somebody one. You have to take 1,000 so that you can give a 100 people ten!"
Besides the condom shortage, Rippon also shared his thoughts on many of the athletes who bravely spoke up on American politics while competing in Milan.
"It was so amazing to see so many out athletes and so many athletes who were speaking out against the things that they think are wrong or need to change. There's a lot of pushback that comes with that. It's the biggest stage of their career, so I was really impressed. That's what made me proud to be an American."
As a professional figure skater and commentator, Rippon has insights into many aspects of the world of athletics. Now, fans will get to see a different side to the star as taps into his comedic timing by starring in the next episode of NBC's hit show St. Denis Medical. (Previously, Rippon made his acting debut in 2018 on the Will & Grace revival.)
"I've always loved comedy! I've really wanted to get into the acting world. I had an amazing time. The cast is amazing. Like any good gay, I love Wendi McLendon-Covey. That is my biological mother. She was raising the children!"
St. Denis Medical airs Monday nights on NBC. To see the full interview with Adam Rippon, check out the video at the top of the page.
