RELATED | Queer Casting: Luke Evans Is Your New Scrooge & Much More!
1. Andrew Rannells Joins LGBTQ+ Movie 'Our Son'
Luke Evans and Billy Porter's divorce custody battle film Our Son has added to its cast. The drama, which centers around the two stars as a divorcing couple fighting for custody of their eight-year-old son, has added Andrew Rannells and Broadway actor Isaac Powell in new roles. Other actors in the film include Robin Weigert, Kate Burton, Phylicia Rashad, and Cassandra Freeman.
2. Chyler Leigh’s New Hallmark Series
Queer Supergirl and Grey's Anatomy alum Chyler Leigh is set to star in Hallmark's upcoming series The Way Home. Leigh will play Kat Landry, a woman who moved away from her small, Canadian farm town years ago and is estranged from her mother Del (played by Andie MacDowell).
"With her marriage coming to an end and having just been laid off from her job, Kat decides to return home after receiving an unexpected letter from Del urging her to come back. Although her 15-year-old daughter Alice is none-too-thrilled, Kat and her daughter arrive at her family's farm, though the reunion isn't what Kat had envisioned. As the three generations of women slowly work on finding their footing as a family, they embark on an enlightening - and surprising - journey none of them could have imagined." The show will be released in 2023.
Hari Nef to Play Trans Legend Candy Darling
So this news technically happened last week when I was on vacation, but I couldn't pass it up. Hari Nef (Transparent, Assassination Nation) will star as Andy Warhol superstar Candy Darling in an upcoming untitled biopic written by Transparent writer Stephanie Kornick. This is incredibly exciting news!
"The dream was always to play Candy, and it is the honor of my life to get the chance to do it," Nef said to Deadline. "Candy bridged the gap between her dreams and a reality stacked so consummately against her--a transsexual glamour girl and indie icon reigning over Warhol's Manhattan and Nixon's America. She burned fast, and bright. More than anything, she wanted to be taken seriously as an actress. She taught girls like me how to dream--perhaps even how to be at all. She's the blueprint."
Lauren Ambrose Joins 'Yellowjackets' Season Two
Six Feet Under star Lauren Ambrose is joining the second season of Yellowjackets as a series regular. She'll play the adult version of Vanessa Palmer, one of the girls on the soccer team that crashed in the wilderness.
Young Vanessa, or Van, is played by Liv Hewson, who was also upped to a series regular for the new season. She's in a relationship with her teammate Taissa, played by Jasmin Savoy Brown and Tawny Cypress.
