American Apparel, the company behind the ubiquitous "Legalize Gay" tees, has teamed up with GLAAD for LGBT Pride Month, launching a new line of shirts to support equality and the legalization of gay marriage. The tees, reading, "Gay O.K.", will be sold at American Apparel stores nationwide and on their website, americanapparel.com, just in time for Pride 2012 in the coming weeks.
In addition to the tees, American Apparel also premiered an advertising campaign with their first transgender model, America's Next Top Model alum Isis King, featured alongside current and former GLAAD employees. GLAAD will also receive 15% of the profits from every shirt sold.
In a statement released today, American Apparel creative director Marcia Brady says, "We're super proud to support LGBT Pride again this year and partner with GLAAD in events. It's time for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, to accept each other and thrive in harmony."
