It's a question that has obviously popped into every gay boy's head: Gee, what does Madonna smell like, and how to I recreate that smell for myself? Well, the universe has been conspiring to make that wish come true because today it was announced that Madge inked a deal with major league fragrance purveyor -- Coty, Inc. -- to produce the icon's first ever signature scent, titled (what else!?) "Truth of Dare."
Come March 2012, ladies and gents in the United States can pick up a bottled version of the singer's essence, distilled into a lovely scent. The perfume will be an exclusive to Macy's, which makes sense since that's where the pop star's latest fashion-related endeavour -- her line "Material Girl" -- is being sold.
Madonnaspoke toWWD about the deal and had this to say:
"I have always been obsessed by fragrance and for years wanted to create something personal that was an expression of me, but that other people could relate to as well. Something classical and timeless and yet modern. My oldest memory of my mother is her perfume. I carry it with me everywhere. She always smelled like gardenias and tuberose, an intoxicating mixture [that was] feminine and mysterious. I wanted to re-create this scent, but with something fresh and new about it as well. Something honest and yet daring -- hence the name Truth or Dare."
For once we'd love it if a celebrity just spoke the truth and would go on the record as saying: "Coty just offered me a boatload of money so I signed on the dotted line. I'll probably never even catch a whiff of this toilet water in my entire life because I'll be too busy lathering myself in Chanel No. 5 until the day I die. I named it Truth of Dare because marketing research shows that I'll make more money than J.K. Rowling if I do." But, sure, Madonna, we like the story about memories and mom and tuberose.
What do you think Madonna's scent should smell like?
