The annual Met Gala finally reclaimed its rightful place on the first Monday in May after being canceled in 2020 and taking place off-season in 2021! The theme for the prestigious, fundraising event was "In America: An Anthology of Fashion," while the red carpet focused on "Gilded Glamour," paying homage to the the "Gilded Age" of history from 1870 to 1900.
While it was the general consensus on social media that a lot of folks (regardless of identity) didn't really understand the assignment and failed to serve on-theme looks throughout the evening, there were a lot of men (more than last year, at least) who took exception to the weird, bare-minimum phenomenon of restricting themselves to a boring, black tux, so at least there was that to look forward to.
