If you thought that model, actor, and activist Nyle DiMarco's new work behind the scenes was going to stop him from getting in front of the camera, think again. The America's Next Top Model winner is one of a group of stars to appear in V Magazine's 2021 calendar.
The limited-edition calendar was created in collaboration with Emporio Armani. Also featuring the likes of Bella Hadid, Irina Shayk, Sean O'Pry, Pietro Boselli, and Valentina Sampaio, the series of images feature the models mostly in underwear and swimwear. DiMarco appears, shot by Doug Inglish with Nicola Formicheti as stylist, wearing a pair of skimpy briefs.
There are only 1,000 copies of the calendar available and it is available to order now.
But DiMarco isn't just a pretty face and hot body. As we noted last year, the actor has been ramping up his work behind the scenes recently as a producer. On January 1, he launched the Instagram account for Clerc Studio, "a production house committed to amplify the stories of disabled people, which make up the world's largest minority." The name was likely pulled from Laurent Clerc who is one of the most influential Deaf figures in Deaf history.
Born in France, Clerc became a teacher at the Royal Institution for the Deaf in Paris. His work there eventually caught the attention of Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet, who contracted him to come to America and help him found a school. He taught Gallaudet Sign Language, and then went on to help him found the first school for the Deaf in America, even signed for President James Monroe. His imprint on education for those that are Deaf and hard of hearing is immeasurable, and unlike Gallaudet, he was actually Deaf. In this way, DiMarco likely hopes to channel some of that "for us, by us" energy.
The first post on the Instagram account is a series of screenshots from an Out story detailing DiMarco's upcoming production work. His representatives declined to give further comment on the launch.
