Wave Riders

Photography by Gieves Anderson.
This season, designers from Ami to Coach to Louis Vuitton are enamored with surfing culture, and is it really any surprise? There's always been something enviable about the idea of a life spent braving the tides and lazing in the sun and sand. But compared to Gidget's heyday, today's swimsuits are skimpier (fine by us), the Hawaiian prints are crazier, and the tunes come blasting from a sleek portable speaker rather than a scratchy transistor radio. The sport has never been more fashionable, and you don't have to be able to hang ten to embrace it. Really, you just need a few good hangers.
