OUT Editorial: The Name Game
Blame promotional hashtags, blame capitalism, blame the current '90s renaissance, but logos are back. From FUBU to Versace, designers have flirted with ostentatious branding for decades, but if splashing your favorite labels across your chest as a teenager may have been garish, flaunting who you're wearing in the age of ironic nostalgia means doing so with a wink. This fall, Tommy Hilfiger is in full-on throwback mode with the resurrection of its classic logo, while Kris Van Assche is toughening up Dior Homme by slapping on the phrase HARDIOR--a tribute to the hardcore movement--on its hoodies, ties, and accessories. There's never been a better time to be loud and proud. Shouldn't your fashion be, too?
