For spring 2017, Dior Homme creative director Kris Van Assche remembered the creative kids of his youth. “There is a sense of collective consciousness to the collection, a remix of shared boyhood memories," the designer says in his show remarks. "I'm interested in a synthesis of generations and filtering subcultures through my own lens to tell a story."
The story Van Assche was telling this season was one of exciting times and playfulness. Taking inspiration from the codes of punk-rock style and neo-romanticism, the designer channeled the utopian atmosphere of a traveling playground, mixing elements of sportswear and work wear with a goth New Wave vibe. His models had on black nail polish, a way to show the daring spirit of arts and design students who try to look "cool and tough," according to KVA.
