Menswear continues to evolve in fresh and exciting ways, and Gotham-based designers are leading the way.

We asked three of our new favorite designers what makes their fashionable minds tick.

Carlos-portrait-03Carlos Campos
Label: Carlos Campos

First fashion memory: "My father's burgundy pants. He was an exceptional tailor and always dressed in sharp clothes he made himself, which is why he had a huge influence on my choice to pursue fashion design."

Who he designs for: "I definitely think about our customer, the Carlos Campos man, but I always filter that through what I personally like. I figure if I want to wear it, others will too."

Favorite music to work to: "I don't have a favorite song. I just like upbeat music in general--everything from the Strokes to Romeo Santos."

Proudest piece: "My navy blue neoprene bomber jacket. It's simple and modern while still maintaining a classic look."

Best Fashion Week moment: "The feeling of excitement and accomplishment when all your hard work is finally showcased and people are enjoying it."

His label in three words: "Modern, sleek, and well-tailored."

Ximonlee-portraitXimon Lee (winner, Parsons Menswear Designer of the Year)

Label: Ximon Lee

First fashion memory: "Seeing department store flyers with really tacky photos on them."
Who he designs for: "Boys like me."

Favorite music to work to: "When I work, I listen to loud music, mostly without any lyrics. Techno-house or deep-house music is always on my playlist."

Proudest piece: "I'm proud of all the pieces from my school thesis collection ['Children of Leningradsky']. I've been working on them for six months. Every touch on the garments is personal, but my favorite piece is the white shirt jacket from my first runway look."

Best Fashion Week moment: "At my very first Fashion Week, seeing my favorite model change. And the worst was waiting for the last-minute printing of the lineup at 4 a.m., then running back home for a 10-minute shower before the show."

His label in three words: "Expressive, expressive, expressive."

Label: Pyer Moss

First fashion memory: "Watching my mom take gold-accented venetian-style drapes, cut them up, and make a dress out of them in 25 minutes before we had to leave for my cousin's communion. My jaw hung open the entire time. It came out beautiful."

Who he designs for: "Luke Glanton (Ryan Gosling) from the movie The Place Beyond the Pines--if he were a real person."

Favorite music to work to: " 'Don't Disturb This Groove' by the System. But my favorite song to werq to is 'Shit' by Future."

Proudest piece: "I made these puffer pants last season that resembled a down coat. I walked away from that like, I did that shit."

Best Fashion Week moment: "My spring 2014 show, when Leon [Robinson] from Madonna's "Like a Prayer" video told me he was a fan. My sister used to have his headshots on her wall. She almost fainted."

His label in three words: "Not. That. Serious."
