Following in the footsteps of fellow TV actors Neil Patrick Harris and Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall will slip on the boots and fishnets and play the titular transgender East German punk rocker in Broadway powerhouse Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
According to a press release, the Golden Globe and Drama Desk Award winner will start his turn as Hedwig on October 16 and end his engagement on January 4. Rannells takes his final bow in the John Cameron Mitchell musical on October 12.
Though he starred on the Great White Way last season in The Realistic Joneses, according to Variety, he hasn't been in a musical since doing Cabaret in 2000 and Chicago in 2002. The trade paper also speculates that producers are hoping Hall's name recognition will pack the theater during the very profitable Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday weekends.
