From Into the Woods to Pitch Perfect 2, Anna Kendrick just seems to be everywhere. And in the recently released trailer for The Last Five Years, she's once again putting her killer vocals to good use. The cinematic version of Tony Award-winning composer, lyricist and playwright Jason Gordon Brown's musical is slated for release in February 2015. Directed by Richard LaGravenese, the story details the romance of Cathy (Kendrick) and Jamie (Jeremy Jordan) as each recounts and deconstructs the highs and lows of their relationship. Last month, Kendrick spoke with Out about the role.
On the string of musicals she's been appearing in:
I've been doing musical theater since I was 12 -- before that even. I thought it was the coolest thing ever, but in high school I was told by cooler kids that it wasn't and that I sucked. But being in Into the Woods defines my idea of a dream role.
On the difference between Into the Woods and The Last Five Years:
They couldn't be more different. Into the Woods had this huge set and production value. With The Last Five Years we had no time or money, and we did a very stripped-down, emotionally honest version -- not to mention, it's just two people.
