RuPaul's Drag Race Season 6 winner Bianca Del Rio got in bed with Joan Rivers for a raucous 17 minutes of no-holds-barred comedy where no topic was off limits this summer for the web series, In Bed With Joan Rivers. It became available after the the controversy of calling Michelle Obama a "tranny," and may have been overlooked by some outlets. In it, however, Del Rio explains why the gay community loved Rivers: "I know you hate ass kissing, which is why I'm going to keep it to a minimum but I remember when I was younger and I saw your daytime talk show. You were one of the only people on TV who was showcasing drag talent as talent."
It seems fitting to re-watch the August video short in which Del Rio and Rivers also shared stories about how they're both often attacked by people who were offended by their humor.
Del Rio: When they come after me and say you're being a little too cunty or disrespectful, I say, "You're at a bar at 1 a.m. watching a fucking man in a wig. You need to check yourself before you check me."
Rivers: Why do you even listen to these idiots?
Del Rio: I don't listen but now with social media, it's there.
Rivers: I don't. If it's negative, you're wasting your time. The minute it says, "Dear Cunt," I know it's either someone saying somehing negative or it's Melissa (Rivers' daughter.)
After watching these two trade rapid-fire insults directed at celebrities and themselves, it is obvious that Rivers respects Del Rio as a worthy predecessor.
