Celine Dion Puts Career On Indefinite Hiatus

The diva wants to focus on her children and ailing husband.

In a statement released yesterday on her website, Las Vegas concert queen Celine Dion announced she will "postpone all of her show business activities indefinitely." Dion says she wants to focus on her attention on her children and husband, Rene.

Rene Angelil, her husband/manager, had a surgery in December to remove a cancerous tumor. Dion says that she's been "fighting an illness that has caused inflammation in her throat muscles, and has not been able to perform any of her scheduled shows in Las Vegas since her last show on July 29th." All of Dion's shows up until March have been canceled, as has her planned Asian tour this Fall.

"I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children. I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support." said Celine in a statement.

Fans who have already purchased tickets for any upcoming shows are eligible for refunds.
