After months of speculation, producer Lauren Shuler Donner confirmed that Channing Tatum is going to be the new Gambit in a future X-Men film. During a red carpet interview with Total Film, she said "it is Channing"--ending all speculation about the role. The news comes after the actor himself publicly campaigned for the role, explaining that his Southern roots brought him closer to the character.
"He's a rogue. He's a rascal," Shuler Donner explained why Tatum landed the part. Now it's just a matter of figuring out what film he will appear in. Director Bryan Singer is working on the tentative X-Men: Apocalypse but the last time Gambit appeared in the franchise was in X-Men Origins: Wolverwine.
In other superhero news: director Zack Snyder teased the new batmobile, which will be featured in Batman vs Superman, the follow up to Snyder's reboot of the Superman franchise. The vehicle looks to have merged the designs of the Tumbler from Christopher Nolan's take on the Batman franchise and the classic batmobile of earlier days.
Sadly fans have to wait until 2016 before they get to see it in action.
