If you’re still unsure of who to root for in the Men’s 10-meter platform event, let me help you out; Mitcham. While you may be tempted to root for your own country, consider the fact that if the Aussie wins gold he promised, via Twitter, to dive naked off the 10m platform.
I realize this event does offer a tough choice, I mean it’s tough to choose between Australia’s Matthew Mitcham and Britain’s Tom Daley? They both have gorgeous swimmer’s builds, sexy accents, and the ability to fill out a Speedo.
The divers are competing in the Men’s 10-meter Platform Preliminary Round at 3 PM EDT today. The
aquatic twinks Olympic athletes find themselves in the age-old rivalry of young challenger verses reigning champ. Daley, the 18 year-old hetero upstart, hopes steal the gold from the openly gay 24 year-old Aussie. Though the choice may seem difficult, Daley’s made no such promises. Yet. GO MITCHAM!
Latest Update: With much sadness, we report that Mitcham reached 13th place in the semifinals, reducing his chances at competition to practically zero -- the 24-year-old was visibly upset at his loss and blames past injury. He's in reserve and would only compete in the small chances of a higher ranked diver sustaining an injury. We're disappointed both for his missing the chance to compete for the medal, and of course, that other thing we were reporting about. Daley placed fourth and will be competing, but made no promise of getting naked for any of it.
Update: Mitcham qualified for the semifinals at 10th place with a total score of 457.20. Daley also qualified at 15th place with 448.45, while Chinese divers Qiu Bo and Lin Yue took the first and second spots, with 563.70 and 532.15 respectively. Go on Mitcham! You can beat them!
