If Madonna had her way, perhaps her Superbowl scandal never would have happened.
As you doubtlessly remember, the Material Girl's performance was marred when M.I.A. saluted the millions of fans watching the program with her middle finger, causing a huge controversy and, more importantly, taking the spotlight off of Lady M. It was not cute.
In an interview with British talk show Daybreak (via Page Six) however, the "Give Me All Your Luvin" singer reveals that the costar she really wanted for the show was no other than Adele.
"I wanted her to be in the Super Bowl with me," said Madonna. "But I think she was having her throat problem or throat operation or something."
Indeed Adele was having throat problems earlier this year--which didn't stop her from winning pretty much every award under the sun, extending her own middle finger at the Brit awards no less--and that dream collaboration wasn't possible. But never say never.
"'Yes, I would love to [work with Adele]. I would love to meet her," Madonna said. "I think she's brilliant."
