Having just ended the spring 2012 showings, it's easy to be on a fashion high. The best and the brightest have all shown the most opulent, extravagant tricks up their sleeves in hopes of illiciting the burning desire to take out a second mortgage to purchase their latest and greatest offerings. Feathers and leathers mixed with embroideries and beadings have strut the catwalks of New York, London, Milan, and Paris, and now that it's over, buyers are scurrying to their offices to figure out what their customer will want come spring.
One thing that we would imagine -- what, with a lingering recession and oversaturated market filled with places like Zara who make a mean knock-off -- is that people are still very judicious when it comes to parting with their cash. So imagine our surprise when we read that The Row -- the luxury label designed by twin moppets Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen -- not only had the gall to design a $39,000 alligator skin backpack, but that it has actually sold out. Who the hell is buying that? Well, good for the diminuative designers. Lord knows they need the money (sarcasm, people.)
