Illinois Hosts First Legal Civil Union

While many people will spend a summer night in line to see the latest Transformers film or the final Harry Potter flick, Janean Watkins and Lakeesha Harri (above)waited all night for something far more poignant (and less Michael Bay-ish). The couple were the first recipients of Illinois's newly instated civil union licenses. And hey, nothing says love like paper work, right? Watkins and Harri were joined by dozens of other couples also looking to get hitched:

As of yesterday, Illinois is the sixth state to legalize civil unions. Only 44 more to go...
