Jenna Lyons: Best Mom Ever

J. Crew creative director Jenna Lyons lives a charmed life. She's in charge of one of the best chain clothing labels in the world, she has a sick Brooklyn home, a cute artist husband Vincent Mazeau, and a beautiful baby boy (not really a baby, but he's still a lil' guy). But last week, she caused a maelstrom of controversy by featuring an online advertisement where she painted her son's toenails pink. Conservative pundits have already expressed disgust at the thought, and accuse the stylish gal of encouraging a blurring of traditional gender roles. Personally, we think that's just plain idiotic. Now, in a video from Fabsugar, Lyons revealed she lets her son pick out her shoes in the morning. Can this woman get any worse? She actually interacts with her son in the morning? She creates cute, fun rituals for them to take part in together and bond. Here's the quote from the video on Fabsugar (you can watch the video here).

I have a funny process for getting dressed in the morning. It's something that started with my son, who loves my shoes, and I have a lot of them. So we've developed a tradition where he picks them out, and I have to rotate my shoes because otherwise he would pick the same high-heeled sparkly shoes every time, because he loves them. So I rotate them, he picks out the shoes, and I work from there.

She also chats a bit about working with Anna Wintour and the CFDA/Fashion Fund too, so you know that made us happy. So, while her son is quite young and may just be responding to a strong feminine role model, but he might just be on his way down the yellow-brick road -- if you catch our drift. But it's no one's business -- including ours -- to try and determine the sexual orientation of a child. And as Jenna clearly demonstrates, she's not judging either -- she's just embracing her little man and bonding with him.
