Gone Bananas: Banana Republic Hits the Mark

On Monday, on an unexpectedly, yet very welcome, temperate day the folks from Banana Republic showed their fall 2011 collection. Taking place at New York's elegant and hip Bowery Hotel, guests were greeted with flutes of champagne, friendly, easy chatter and live music from the band A Fine Frenzy -- featuring the sprite-ly vocals of Alison Sudol. They cited warm, autumnal colors, seperates with layered simplicity, and subtle equestrian references as their inspiration. Overall, it the showing typified quintessential Banana Republic vibe, safe and stylish pieces that were chock full of versatility. The rusts and oranges were perfect for fall and the delicious shoes looked stylish and elegant. We were especially keen on a broken-in leather jacket and two suits -- both gray, one double-breasted the other with a leaner, younger vibe.

But alas, it looks like we have a couple of months before we'll be seeing this collection in stores -- but at least it's something to look forward to.
