The first official trailer for We the Animals has been made available to view on YouTube thanks to indie film distribution company The Orchard.
Adapted from novelist Justin Torres' bestselling book of the same name, We the Animals follows the touching coming-of-age story of Jonah and his two brothers as they mature in a troubled upstate New York home fraught by their parents' failing marriage and questions of identity.
The Jeremiah Zagar-directed film debuted at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year where it won the NEXT Innovator Prize. Zagar was previously associated with his documentary work before directing We the Animals.
The movie also features performances from Looking's Raul Castillo and Argo's Sheila Vand.
We the Animals will premiere in select theaters on August 17. Until then watch the trailer, below.
