Mall rats are the new social media influencer.
In a discovery that is sure to shake influencers to their sponsored cores, you can now buy likes and followers from the comfort of your local Russian shopping mall. Deep in the heart of Mother Russia, mall rats can drop 50 Russian rubles (or $.89 cents) to get 100 likes on your latest selfie or double up with 100 rubles (or $1.77 for the non-mathletes) to get 100 Instagram followers.
The strangely relaxing soft glow of the pink-hued social media vending machine was discovered by journalist Vasily Sonkin and his colleague Alaxey Kovalev in the Okhotny Ryad shopping center in downtown Moscow. Though Kovaley spotted the machine first, he was "so baffled" that he forgot to take a photo. Luckily, photo-taking is another talent the machine does well. Besides giving you a legion of fake followers or drowning you in fake likes to boost your self-confidence, it also takes selfies, prints Instagram photos, and sells fake followers and likes for VK, a popular social networking site in Russia.
Don't live in Moscow? No worries! The vending machines have been spotted throughout Russia and, given the current political climate, should be making their way across the Atlantic to the United States of Russia sometime in the next four years.
