Influenced at a very impressionable age by iconic purveyors of masculinity and sex, Tom of Finland and Colt magazine, N.Y.based photographer Joe Oppedisano has created a worthy tribute to those inspirations in this black and velvety volume, Testosterone ($76.99), and just in time for publisher Bruno Gmnders 25th anniversary year.
Crammed with 192 pages of dark, sexy photographs of men in aggressive embraces, chomping cigars, forceful kissing in bathrooms, fighting in designer suits in a dimly lit boiler room, wrestling in the mud, or just oozing grit and hormones in murky milieu, Testosterone is an homage to maleness. Author Reed Massengill nails it when he writes in his introduction to Oppedisanos book, Few photographers can easily evoke a look from a model that says, I wont kiss you, but Ill fuck you.
