Gay-dalajara

Guadalajara, Mexico, may not have the seaside queer appeal of, say, Puerto Vallarta, but as we learned on a recent visit, the city (located in the region in which virtually all of the worlds tequila is made) has a wide variety of gay nightlife. In our October issue we described our visit to the Hacienda del Patrn, just outside the city, where Patrn makes their premium tequilas. While we were there, we had only one night to check out the nightlife. So we made the most of it. Link Bar & Lounge The Mood Its a cross between a lounge and a modern living room. Actually, several living rooms, as there are many nooks and crannies to relax in, including a patio, which offers a great breezerefreshing, since guests can smoke in bars in Mexico. The Boys A good cross-generational mix. The music was played at a decent level so we could carry on a conversation, and the drinks were great. Think a dungeon designed by Philippe Starck, minus any S&M apparatus. Theres a cool staircase that goes to nowhere, which people sit on to cruise at this cruisey joint. The Boys A little older (on the night we were there) and definitely on the prowl. How We Liked It Good for a drinkand a place to pick up a local. The Boys Very cute and a little younger (than Kingdom). The kind of place where you could go with a group of friends and party all night. How We Liked It While the music was a bit loud for our delicate ears, the vibe was killer. We went on a Friday, which we were told is less busy (Saturday is the big night), and the place was still jumping. After driving around for 30 minutes on a Friday night looking for a parking space and seeing a line out the door, we gave up. (It was after 3 a.m., people, give us a break!)
