Katya is out of the hospital and feeling fine.
On Sunday, RuPaul’s Drag Race star Katya Zamolodchikova posted an update about her health after previously sharing that she had been hospitalized without an explanation.
“Hi friends, I’m back out of the hospital,” Katya shared on Instagram Sunday. “I had to do an emergency abdominal surgery. There was a bowel obstruction in my small intestine. They had to decompress my stomach, flush out [my] intestines and remove and reattach a small part of my small and large intestine. I was in the hospital with an NG tube down my nose into stomach pumping fluid up and out of my body for 10 days without being able to eat or drink.”
She continued, “It was absolute hell on earth. But the tube is gone, I am eating and drinking and am back at home.”
After the health update, she specifically thanked her medical team at Los Angeles’s Cedars Sinai Medical Center, including her doctors and one of her nurses.
“Thanks to the surgical team at Cedars Sinai especially Dr Matthew Bloom and Dr Sydney Caputo (sp?) and shoutout to Nurse Audrey for being a baller,” she wrote. “Hallelujah.”
The season 7 and All Stars 2 contestant first alerted fans to her hospital stay on April 29, when she posted a photo of her wearing a nasogastric tube and giving a thumbs up.
“Girl, I’m in body jail,” Katya wrote in a social media post along with the hashtag #hellonearth. In a follow-up post issued shortly after the photo, she added, “Everyone gets sick. (Almost) everybody gets old. And every one dies.”
Her posts stoked concerns among fans, who took to social media to wish her well.
Following her initial posts, Katya also cancelled her May 9 show alongside UNHhhh! co-host Trixie Mattel at Netflix’s Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival. In the cancellation message, which was announced on both stars’ social media accounts, the pair promised that the show would be rescheduled for a later date.
