Forget feelings your oats — we’re all feeling the “Rush” right now!
Best known for competing on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12 and All Stars 6, Jan has just delivered an iconic lip sync performance to Troye Sivan’s latest single, “Rush,” while fully dressed as a bottle of poppers.
During the performance, Jan first comes out on the stage dressed in a costume that resembles an actual bottle of Rush: bright yellow packaging, a red font, and lightning bolt symbols. (In case you didn’t know, Rush is an actual brand of poppers that inspired Sivan’s new song.)
As the song reaches its first climax, Jan takes off the initial costume to reveal a pussycat wig and mini-dress inspired by Rush bottles. The dress is also bright yellow and has “rush” written on it in a bold red font. She then gets closer to the audience to deliver some sickening dancing and collect some tips… and everyone seems to be losing their minds over the performance!
When it comes to keeping up with memes and trends in LGBTQ+ culture, Jan is one of the savviest queens to have ever come out of the Drag Race franchise. She’s been able to capitalize on even her lowest moments in the series, such as selling merch featuring the iconic “face crack” that followed her losing the Rusical challenge back in season 12.
Coming out of the baffling and poorly-received HBO series The Idol, Sivan is now fully back on track with a catchy lead single for his upcoming third studio album, Something to Give Each Other, which is scheduled to drop on Friday, October 13 on streaming platforms.
It is pure drag fun to watch a queen dress up in a bottle of poppers and lip sync to “Rush.” Particularly during a time when drag performers and LGBTQ+ people are constantly under attack, we definitely need to find some joy as we gather together in queer spaces and celebrate our community.
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 8 airs Fridays on Paramount+.
