Stop! That! Train! is a major success!
Contrary to the film's title, audiences are heading to the theater full steam ahead to support the queer project. No stops or breaks detected!
As the first-ever feature film set in the RuPaul's Drag Race universe, mother RuPaul recruited some of her favorite queens and frequent collaborators to create an All Star cast and crew.
Although RuPaul loves all of her children dearly, the Emmy winner has a hard time remembering certain people's names from time to time and the press tour for Stop! That! Train! has been no exception.
The reoccurring mistake has become a joke within the Drag Race fandom as some are even convinced it's a bit at this point. Regardless of the semantics, only a few select people can say they've joined this elite group, including director Adam Shankman.
At last month's premiere for the movie, RuPaul forgot Shankman's name right before introducing him to the audience. In fact, he even tried look at the film's poster to find Shankman's name, but ultimately gave up and said, "Give it up for this man!"
"When he forgot my name, it was like this kaleidoscope of things happening. Suddenly I was like, 'I've arrived!' I've finally arrived. He meets a lot of people. There's been hundreds of contestants across the franchise. That's a lot," Shankman tells Out.
RuPaul's forgetfulness wasn't just a one-time occurrence on the promotional tour for the feature film. During an interview on Today, the reality TV host forgot that Ginger Minj competed in the Tournament of All Stars on All Stars 10, even though she was crowned the winner.
"She's never forgotten my name, so I'll take that as a win! She said that the other day and I had to question myself. I was like, 'Have I done the brackets? I think I have!' I think it's brilliant. I love it," Minj tells Out.
"She remembers my name! Baby, I've been on that show a sensible 74 times. I'm actually in the basement right now! I think they're doing the runway! I have never done the brackets. Bracket sounds like a slur," Jujubee adds.
Besides the dynamic duo of Ginger Minj and Jujubee, other beloved Drag Race queens such as Brooke Lynn Hytes, Symone, Marcia Marcia Marcia, and Latrice Royale proudly represent RuPaul's children in the campy movie.
"It's herstoric! It's joyous. It's a form of protest of what's going on around us. I feel like a kid after watching it. I can't believe all of us did this and the country gets to watch it," Symone says.
"The script was just so amazing. I drew inspiration from my favorite movie villain, which is Miranda Priestly. Let's be honest... I just look like a bitch. I look very intimidating and I have a resting bitch face. I am a very nice person I promise! It's literally just the way I look," Hytes adds.
"I'm the only one in this cast who isn't a winner, host, or who's been on the show a hundred times. It wasn't something I necessarily saw for myself. I'm very proud to be counted among this group of queens. It's very special," Marcia replies.
"It's always an honor to feel like one of the chosen children. Ru has been very good to me throughout the years and she always picks me to be a part of these special projects. That to me is the biggest honor. When you put the right people in the right places, you're going to get the magic that you need," Royale concludes.
Stop! That! Train! is playing in theaters now.
