RuPaul's Drag Race season 4 contestant Willam will host a series of drag brunches to raise money for The Trevor Project beginning in June.
On June 29, during WorldPride in New York City, Willam will kick of a three-part series of brunch events at Kimpton Hotels in partnership with The Trevor Project. That engagement will also feature Stephanie's Child -- a trio of drag queens that sing live -- as well as Izzy Uncut, Logan Hardcore, Rhea Litre and noted Beyonce impersonator Miss Shalae. Local performers will join Willam at an event in Austin on August 11 during Austin Pride and at an event on October 19 in Philadelphia. The Trevor Project is the leading national organization focused on crisis and suicide prevention efforts among LGBTQ+ youth.
According to The Trevor Project, the organization has supported more than 6,000 crisis contacts in New York, over 5,000 in Texas, and nearly 3,500 in Pennsylvania over the last year. These brunches are aimed to not only bring in funds (100 percent of ticket sales and funds from a silent auction will go to the event) but also spread awareness, as it is likely that there are other youth in crisis going unassisted.
"With Willam at the helm this year, we know our message of support will reach LGBTQ+ youth so they know they are never alone, and can always reach out to The Trevor Project for support 24/7," Amit Paley, CEO and executive director for the organization said in a statement.
