We’ve been nothing but happy and excited for Let’s Make a Deal host Wayne Brady as he came out as pansexual earlier this week, but some conservatives are having a very different reaction.
Notorious transphobe and far right pundit Matt Walsh (known for his science-denying propaganda film What Is a Woman?) has now spoken out on Brady’s coming out, and it’s one of the dumbest things we’ve seen in a long time.
In his coming out interview with People, Brady said that he identifies as pansexual, or “bisexual, with an open mind.”
“So, I came to pansexual because – and I know that I’m completely messing up the dictionary meaning – but to me, pan means being able to be attracted to anyone who identifies as gay, straight, bi, [transgender], or non-binary. Being able to be attracted across the board. And, I think, at least for me for right now, that is the proper place. I took pan to mean that not only can I be attracted to any of these people or types physically, but I could be attracted to the person that is there.”
If you’re a normal person, you might understand that as a man examining himself and speaking his truth. If you’re Matt Walsh, you might go on an unhinged rant talking about how "scared" you are that Brady might potentially be attracted to you.

In a clip from The Matt Walsh Show, Walsh can be seen talking about Brady’s coming out, and saying that “other people have a right to know if they are potential objects of your sexual fantasies.”
“That’s why it’s not fair to walk around and say ‘I’m attracted to anyone, anyone at all. No one’s safe,’” he started. “Now, if there’s like a group of people sitting in a room with Wayne Brady – it's a diverse group – you’ve got an overweight 65-year-old man, you’ve got a young woman, whatever. Everyone’s sitting around, and they’re all thinking ‘He could be attracted to any of us right now.’”
“It’s scary. It’s like some kind of Agatha Christie novel in a weird way,” he concluded.
We thought we left this kind of childish thinking back in middle school, but homophobia still rears its ugly head.
In the clip, Walsh also calls being pansexual “a lack of commitment” and urges Brady to “pick a side.”
These fears are all theoretical, of course. In real life, it's more likely that no one is attracted to Matt Walsh.
