Megan Thee Stallion is adding yet another award to her ever-growing trophy shelf; this time, it's for her advocacy work.
The bisexual Grammy-winning rapper was announced as this year's recipient of the Trevor Project's Mental Health Champion Award. According to the official press release, the award "recognizes influential public figures who use their platform to advocate for mental health awareness and issues impacting LGBTQ+ young people."

Though much of Megan's music is about sex positivity and empowering people to use their bodies in whatever way they see fit, she's also never afraid to offer her fans a peek into her psyche with songs like "Anxiety," where she talks about how she copes with the stress of fame and grieves the loss of her mother and grandmother. She also opened up about dealing with depression, alcoholism, and suicidal ideation on her song "Cobra."
She's the founder of the Pete & Thomas Foundation, a nonprofit organization that was named in honor of her late parents and focuses on empowering women, children, senior citizens, and underserved communities with initiatives in Houston and worldwide centered on education, housing, health, and wellness. But her philanthropy doesn't stop there. Megan launched BadBitchesHaveBadDaysToo.com, an online mental health hub with resources, directories, and LGBTQ+ community helplines for those seeking support, including The Trevor Project.

"My goal has always been to use my platform to help break stigmas around mental health and provide resources for those seeking safe spaces to have honest and heartfelt conversations. I’m grateful for organizations like The Trevor Project that are committed to spreading awareness and supporting our LGBTQ+ youth in powerful ways.”

The CEO of the Trevor Project, Jaymes Black, praised the Houston-native for mental health advocacy. "Her raw honesty, bold advocacy, and deep love for her community make her an extraordinary role model – particularly for Black LGBTQ+ youth, who face some of the highest rates of discrimination, mental health challenges, and suicide risk," his statement reads. "Megan’s activism doesn’t just stop at words; she builds real, tangible resources for vulnerable communities that are too often overlooked or left behind. As a queer Black person, I wish I had someone like Megan to look up to when I was growing up. Her courage, her authenticity, and her unwavering commitment to mental health advocacy will echo for generations."
He ended his statement saying, "The Trevor Project is proud to honor her incredible impact, especially at a time when LGBTQ+ young people are being stripped of life-saving resources. Megan Thee Stallion’s voice is not just powerful. It’s essential.”
The organization also emphasized the importance of this year's award after the Trump administration officially shuttered the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline’s LGBTQ+ Youth Specialized Services program.
