Lil Nas X Had a Bloody Good Halloween in His Tampon Costume
This is definitely another way to interpret a “bloody Halloween.”
It’s a period costume.
Fans always expect the irreverent Lil Nas X to turn some lewks for red carpets, the Met Gala, and obviously Halloween. This year, he kickstarted spooky season dressed up as singer Little Richard, who was dubbed as Lil Richard X.
But Nas X didn’t stop there! He also turned out another costume for Halloween 2023: a literal tampon. In a video shared on Instagram, the rapper is seen walking around the streets wearing a blonde wig, high heels, and an outfit that very much looks like a bloody tampon.
Nas X is also seen holding what looks like a “string” attached to a tree that was painted to look like a vagina. During the video, he turns around a few times to give the camera some cheeky smiles.
A few celebrities are going with the flow and left funny comments under Nas X’s post. Dashaun Wesley commented, “Lol.” Adam Lambert left a few laughing emojis. Sean Bankhead wrote, “Nasariah… that walk is getting fishy.” Trace Lehnhoff commented, “You didn’t!!!”
There were also commenters who expressed that Nas X has never experienced a period, and therefore should’ve avoided dressing up like a tampon for Halloween. “I enjoy this look but the fact that you personally have never experienced the stigma, shame or pain involved with having a period makes me pause and think… but why though?” one person wrote. Another person commented, “Well that’s one way to normalize periods.”
Nas X isn’t new to pushing boundaries and having creative endeavors that turn out to be divisive. Some people are living for the idea behind this costume, while others have a few concerns. So, well, he’s done it again!
