It’s hard to believe that it’s been a full decade since we lost the incredible talent and person that was Cory Monteith.
Monteith became famous for playing the role of quarterback Finn Hudson on Glee. Now, 10 years after his untimely death, his former Glee co-star and real-life partner Lea Michele is remembering him.
“Hey you. 10 years,” Michele wrote in an emotional Instagram post. “It feels like only yesterday that you were here and yet a million years ago all at the same time. I hold all of our memories in my heart where they will stay safe and never forgotten. We miss you every day and will never forget the light you brought to us all. I miss you big guy. I hope you found Taylor up there and are playing the drums together.”
The final part is in reference to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in 2022. Monteith was also a drummer.
Michele and Monteith were dating at the time of his tragic death in 2013 when he was found dead in a hotel room in Vancouver at the age of 31. He was later found to have a “mixed drug toxicity” of heroin and alcohol in his system.
Michele also posted on Instagram shortly after his death, thanking her fans for their “enormous love & support” during the obviously difficult time in her life.
“Cory will forever be in my heart,” she wrote at the time.
He’ll forever be in ours as well.
