Ariana Madix shares how she battles grief

Ariana Madix has had a lot to celebrate this year. Love Island USA, which she hosts, became Peacock's most-streamed original series every. And the "proud bisexual" was also announced Thursday as part of the Out100, Out's annual list of LGBTQ+ changemakers.

But in her Out100 profile, Madix opened up about her struggles, including wrestling with the loss of loved ones like her grandmother Bonnie, her friend Ali Rafiq, and her dog Charlotte. “Grief has really tried to take me out a few times in my life,” she shares. “I look for little signs of their love every day and allow myself to cry if I need to. A dark and morbid sense of humor also tends to help.”

Madix, who survived and thrived after a very public breakup with her ex and former Vanderpump Rules castmate Tom Sandoval, also stresses to Out the importance of being emotionally invested in the world right now. "It’s cool to care. Care with everything you’ve got."
