"Is it cause I'm no longer single, or is it cause peeps be realising I'm a gay..." reality star Dave Graham wrote on his Instagram.

Dave Graham came out live on air in 2006 during the Australian version of Big Brother. His housemates nicknamed him the "gay cowboy" and the media labeled him "Farmer Dave." He was a fan favorite and returned to a reboot of the show last October.

Graham recently posted photos of his proposal to his partner Shazli on Lord Howe Island in New South Wales a few weeks ago. He captioned the post, "An Australian who went up a mountain and came down with a husband to be," noting that the day was "just incredible" and that "life is amazing."

A week prior, Graham shared the news of their engagement with Women's Day Australia, where he said, "After a lifetime of looking, I am absolutely and completely in love with the kindest, calmest, most decent hard-working bloke who balances me perfectly."

He added, "I was the guy who was told a thousand times when you least expect it it will happen... and it did!"

Somehow, followers on Graham's Instagram account must have either missed the memo of his sexuality somewhere along the way or simply had their hearts broken, as the announcement has apparently driven away followers en masse.

"It's a funny thing," he captioned in another post with his man. "I lost a few thousand people from this app when I announced my engagement... so here is another photo of me in pure bliss with the fella."

He closed the thought by saying, "I wonder is it cause I'm no longer single or is it cause peeps be realising I'm a gay..."

During his interview with Women's Day, Graham said he hoped their marriage ceremony would include elements of Pakistani culture to support his partner. However, due to the persecution of gay people in Shazli's homeland, his family won't be attending.
