Schitt's Creek co-creator Dan Levy has been busy in quarantine. He's participated in multiple fundraisers, signal boosted others, and gotten pretty chummy with fans online. He's also been doing a series of virtual interviews and appearances, mostly tied to the final season of Schitt's Creek which will be released on Netflix in October. His latest appearance: on First We Feast's Hot Ones.
If you're not familiar with the show, on Hot Ones show guests eat hot wings at various levels of spiciness while being interrogated about their career. Host Sean Evans eats the wings alongside his guests and presents what is undoubtedly some of the most well-researched interviews out there. Levy's episode was no different.
The actor and show writer came to the socially-distanced gig prepared with a milkshake, water, and soda.
"I wanted to make sure I was able to see what combats the heat best," hes aid of his libations. And from the way he was sucking down the milkshake, we're going to assume it was that one.
Levy discussed consignment shopping for the show, how his writing for Moira Rose helped to permanently expand his vocabulary and more. He recalled his first meeting with Drake -- the two were in an airport and Drake was getting off of a plane that Levy was boarding -- and confirmed that American Pie was not based on his life. All the while he threw back spicy wings coated in Chipotle Habanero sauce (this brought the first cough) and more.
"This evolves in the mouth," he said of the Los Calientes hot sauce. "It's a very fragrant bouquet of flavors that almost taste likes you've just gotten a big whiff of someone's armpit. It's like a gamey, musky flavor, that's not going away." Truly a writer! At one point, the star's senses are so blown by the heat that he can't even think straight. Watch the full episode below.
