Now, RuPaul Has Her Own Limited-Edition Chia Pet in Drag

RUPAUL ON A RED CARPET

She is not powering down.

Hey sis, it's Christmas!! And RuPaul has all the things you might want. Namely, a RuPaul Chia pet.

If you have been paying any attention to anything, you may have noticed that RuPaul has had a pretty insane year this year. There has been more drag on television than ever before -- as exemplified by how much RuPaul's Drag Race there's been -- in addition to Ru hosting an episode of Saturday Night Live, appearing on a variety of game shows, and making history at the Emmy awards. Just last week, the performer and host dropped a pretty massive holiday campaign with Old Navy where she not only appeared in a series of advertisements both in and out of drag, but she also remixed her "Hey Sis, It's Christmas" track into a jingle. Now, she's debuted a stocking stuffer for the RuPaul superfan in your life: a limited-edition Chia pet.

"She's here!" Ru tweeted, announcing the news. "RuPaul Chia Pet! 'Ch-Ch-Chi-Chia' Work My Weave For Christmas."

The handmade decorative planter operates like other Chia Pets: spread some seeds, water them, and in one to two weeks you can expect it to be at full growth. Sure, you're not going to get the texture of Ru's masterfully styled wigs (the Chia pet will end up resembling more of a sculpted fro) but it's the thought that counts.

"The perfect metaphor for life," Ru told TMZ about the new product in an on-brand message of self-love. "To grow you must tend to your garden and love yourself." The Chia pets will ship beginning December 2020 and are $19.95.
