Lance Bass Came Out to Britney Spears on Her Wedding Night

Lance Bass shocked approximately no one when he came out on the cover of People magazine in 2006, because we all had eyes, but some in his inner circle new even before his huge reveal. In a recent interview on Watch What Happens Live, Lance Bass shared the story of when he came out to Britney Spears -- on her wedding night.

"It was the night she got married, the first time, to Jason," he said, referencing her marriage to childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander in 2004, which was annulled after only 55 hours. "I went up to Vegas to see the craziness that was happening and she was a little upset, once she realized what she had done."

According to Bass, the situation was "a funny thing, and she started really crying, she was really upset. So I took her to her room and we were sitting on the bed and she wouldn't stop crying, so I was like, 'I'm gay!' It made her stop crying, so..."

Host Andy Cohen asked if Spears had been "sweet and supportive," to which Bass replied: "She chuckled." Even Britney knew!

In his 2006 Peoplecover story, Bass said that he "knew that I was in this popular band and I had four other guys' careers in my hand, and I knew that if I ever acted on it or even said (that I was gay), it would overpower everything," but ultimately he was "not ashamed - that's the one thing I want to say. I don't think it's wrong, I'm not devastated going through this. I'm more liberated and happy than I've been my whole life. I'm just happy."
