Welcome back to the Out Newsletter!
In the past week I spent way too much time thinking about Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. Once again, the figurehead of the TERF movement is raising a fuss on social media, complaining that people get upset when she treats them without any respect.
I’ve been a trans journalist for a decade and I’ve never seen anyone as obsessed with us as J.K. Rowling.
I can easily admit I loved the Harry Potter books and films when I was young, but it’s clear the author has repugnant morals and is trying to use her money and power to make people's lives worse and more dangerous.
What a strange journey it's been watching her go from such a beloved figure to one who spreads so much hate and ignorance.
She becomes more desperate and more deranged each year, and I genuinely hope that soon we here in queer media get to ignore her, or even better, she just finally admits she’s been wrong this whole time.
The good thing is, people like her are becoming rarer and rarer. I really do believe we live in an era where people are excited to learn new things and are excited to see people for who they are. TERFS and bigots like J.K. Rowling are a dying breed.
Now, let’s check out the latest queer news.

Man Crush Monday
No one has been better at dressing celebrities over the last 15 years than our Man Crush Monday, Law Roach. This week we highlighted many of the looks he put together for Zendaya, ranging from red carpets to MET Galas, to press tours. No one has a better eye than Law, and we’ve got an eye for him.
What we're watching
I love Ella Purnell from Arcane and Yellowjackets, and she’s doing a great job in the new Fallout series for Amazon! I’m only one episode in, but I’m really loving the show. It’s really amazing how many great video game adaptations we’ve had in recent years, and I hope it's a trend that continues!
Message from an Editor
Hi, dear Out readers!
My name is Bernardo Sim (he/him) and I'm thrilled to announce my new role as Deputy Editor of Out.com! I couldn't be more excited to take on this new position where I'll collaborate on an even larger scale with our fabulous and ever-growing editorial team.
Since this is my first time writing for the Out newsletter, allow me to briefly introduce myself. I was born and raised in Manaus — a city in the middle of the Amazon forest in Brazil — and moved to the U.S. to go to college at age 18. Since then, I've settled in South Florida, got married to my husband of seven years, and live with our five adorable dogs. And yes, that number is right… I've married a crazy dog person!
Conservative forces are still threatening our existence, but I feel more energized than ever to explore the many talents, stories, beauties, languages, interests, desires, and triumphs within the LGBTQ+ community. If you love to keep up with showbiz, celebrities, trends, drag, technology, thirst traps, online discourse, and the occasional shade of it all… we've got you covered, babes!
— Out.com Deputy Editor, Bernardo Sim
