Key West: Inside Dish

Discover Key West one bite at a time.

Key West is a food lover's paradise, offering visitors a wide range of dining options. From fresh-caught seafood to traditional Italian feasts, the culinary scene on the island is as inclusive and eclectic as the people. Our four Out Travelers - Laith Ashley, Arisce Wanzer, Marti Gould Cummings and Kate Austin - went inside some of Key West's best restaurants to sample some of the delicious dishes native to the island. Check out their favorites, and be sure to stop by when you're in town for a visit.

Moondog-cafe

Kate: You must go to Moondog Cafe! It's this bright little restaurant with a huge menu, but the highlight for me were the fresh juices. I had a watermelon, and it was so refreshing and perfect for a sunny Key West day.

La-trattoria_0

Marti: We had so much fun at La Trattoria. I'm from New York, and it really reminded me of one of those cozy little Italian restaurants you'd find in the heart of the city. You have to check out the hidden little bar in the back after your meal for some dancing and live music.

El-pepe-de-meson_0

Laith: Eating at El Meson de Pepe was one of my favorite experiences in Key West. Beyond the food being delicious and authentically Latin, the whole team was so friendly and welcomed us like we were family. It was honestly like eating at a relative's house.

Djs-clam-shack_0

Arisce: DJ's Clam Shack was so cute and full of character. It's this little grab n' go takeout counter, but with the freshest seafood you can possibly imagine. It's exactly what I wanted for a quick lunch stop in Key West.
