Watch 'Euphoria's Dramatic, Tumultuous Trailer for Jules Special

Hunter Schafer as Jules in 'Euphoria'

Hunter Schafer not only stars, but also helped write and produce the episode.

The trailer for Euphoria's special Jules-centric episode is here and we cannot wait to see what our favorite troubled teens are getting up to.

Because of quarantine, season two of the critically acclaimed HBO drama was delayed. In the interim, creator Sam Levinson decided to make two special episodes that bridge the first and second seasons, with one focusing on Rue (played by Zendaya) and one focusing on Jules, played by Hunter Schafer.

The Rue episode debuted a few months ago, and now it's Jule's turn to shine. The new trailer mixes together old footage of Rue and Jules from the first season with some new clips. We get to see some of the ups and downs of their relationships, plus what looks like a baby picture of Jules.

"Rue is the first girl who didn't just look at me," Jules says. "She actually saw me, the me that's underneath a million layers of not me."

At one point in the trailer, we hear a concerned Rue asking Jules, "so, why did you run away." This may mean the pair will address Jules getting on the train and leaving Rue behind at the end of season one.

Not too many details are known about the special episode, but according to a press release, it "follows Jules over the Christmas holiday as she reflects on the year."

Not only does Schafer star in the episode, but she helped write and produce it as well. Schafer says that during quarantine, she and Levinson would call and talk about ideas for the show. "He was tossing around certain ideas and for some reason Jules was trending on Twitter. That helped us cement what we did in the end," she told Net-a-Porter.

"I helped write the final script and was there for preproduction and helped to plan out the shots and storyboard it," she added, "All that influenced the performance because I knew the script on this whole other level."

The special airs on HBO this Sunday, January 24 at 9pm, but if you have HBO Max, you can watch it on Friday.
